HoopsRef is a basketball rules knowledge assessment. It is not an official referee certification, license, credential, endorsement, or guarantee of eligibility to officiate games.

Assessment questions are based on broadly shared basketball rules concepts, including rules commonly found in NBA and NFHS play. Individual leagues, tournaments, schools, and recreation programs may use different rules or local modifications.

Certificates of achievement, when available, reflect performance on the HoopsRef assessment only. They do not replace training, background checks, league approval, or any requirement set by an organization assigning officials.

HoopsRef is still in testing. Payment handling, organization administration, and final certificate verification controls have not yet been implemented.
